Description:

The FPGBC kit is a DIY FPGA powered handheld games console compatible with Game Boy Color & Game Boy game cartridges.

Our stock is currently version 1.1 - This may be subject to change in the future.

PLEASE TEST THE KIT BEFORE INSTALLATION - If you discover any issues or damage to the kit prior to installation please contact our support team. [email protected]

Warranty does not cover any accidental damage which may occur during the fitting, so care should be taken to install parts after they have been tested to ensure they are working correctly.

Some flash carts are currently not supported. Please read the notice about firmware updating at the bottom of this page.

The included PCB Simulates real hardware using FPGA, and offers a number of upgrades compared to an original unmodified Game Boy, or similar experience to an IPS upgraded console, but with all new hardware in an easy to build kit.

The Kit includes most of the internal parts required to build the DIY handheld, it includes the IPS LCD and ribbon connector cable, motherboard PCB, 2W speaker and 1800mah Lipo battery.

You will need a FPGBC custom shell, GBC rubber buttom membraines and GBC plastic buttons, aka Game Boy Color membraines and buttons. The shell, membraines and buttons are not included with the FPGBC kit, a range of colour options are available to purchase seperately.

Other items you may require are basic tools such as a Tri-wing screwdriver and a USB C cable for charging, these items are not included.

Compared to an original unmodded Game Boy the FPGBC offers a vivid IPS colour screen, a higher powered 2W speaker for better audio, a USB C rechargable battery and all new hardware which does not need refurbishment like an original console.

If you have experience or knowledge in modding a Game Boy Colour then many of the features will be familiar to you, but a donor console is no longer required with this kit, you instead have a brand new custom motherboard without any gremlins that old hardware can have.

Features:

- Supports original hardware cartridges, play official GBC & GB games
- Supports funnyplaying flash carts and some others (Not all flashcarts are guaranteed compatible)
- Brightness control, display adjustments between GB & GBC
- Clock adjustment due to panel limitations Maximum 1.25 speed
- 1800mah lipo battery included in the kit.
- Features USB-C for charging the battery and for software updates*
- 2W Higher sound quality speakers

Firmware updating - PLEASE READ - Firmware updating is not generally required and we do not recommend you upgrade the firmware currently. There are currently some limitations and difficulties in doing firmware updates which are being developed further by Funnyplaying. Only Windows is currently supported for updates currently with some variances in success rate.

Although there is no known instances where a FPGBC console has become perminantly bricked from attempting an update, you may encounter issues where the console is no longer operating normally from attempting updates, which may then require further processes to try and restore the firmware, multiple attempts may be required.

You should only attempt a firmware update if you are technically minded and comfortable with troubleshooting computers, or if you have been instructed to do a firmware update by Funnyplaying or ZedLabz.

Further improvements to firmware updaing will be made to improve reliability of the update process over time.
